Content

The first theme covers the Scottish Parliament as an arena for conflict, cooperation and decision making. We will look at the functions of the Parliament; its organisation and procedures for business in the Scottish government, and we may have an opportunity to visit the Parliament itself. The second unit examines “Wealth and Health Inequalities in the United Kingdom”.

Here we will pay particular attention to the Welfare State and the debate over the provision and funding of health care and welfare, and individual and collective responsibility. “The United States of America”, will cover a variety of areas, such as the political system, the role and powers of the USA government at federal, state and local levels, and the midterm Congressional election.
