Environmental science explores the complexities of the natural environment and our relationship with it. This specialist route, available in the BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences, takes a holistic approach to the science of our environment investigating topics such as global warming, water resources, pollution and conservation. Our environment is fascinating – but it’s under threat from climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion. Explore the consequences and implications of environmental change for sustainability from a scientific perspective, by learning about the processes, links and interactions operating in different environments.
There are no formal qualifications required to study this degree. Computer and internet access required.
If you’re new to study or to the OU, it is recommended that you start with a course at Level 1.
Science graduates are well placed to enter a range of both scientific and non-scientific jobs. The study of science develops good analytical and numerical skills, and students also become proficient in using computers.
