Computing: Technical Support with Cyber Security

This course is designed to offer you academic, technical and professional training in order to provide you with the skills necessary to work at a senior level in IT Support or in managing computing systems across a wide range of industries. These include skills in installing, configuring and maintaining equipment and network infrastructures.

The course will also cover the legal and ethical issues that accompany work in computing and IT.

In Year 1 you will have to learn about fundamental concepts relating to computer networks. You will have to build practical skills and theoretical understanding through various in-class exercises, projects and discussions.

In Year 2 of the course you will study more specific areas of networking as well as the CISCO CCNA Vendor Qualification.

Project work is used regularly to strengthen your team working and project management skills, and industry standard practices and processes are used to ensure your training is vocationally-focused.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers preferably including Computing Science; (Foundation Apprenticeship may be accepted in place of 1 Higher); or relevant Computing course at SCQF Level 6
