This modernised course provides a logical progression from NQ and Higher level studies, while also appealing to those who have some experience in working in a computing environment but wish to attain qualifications to support their knowledge/skills. Students follow a common core subject set then branch into one of four specialist subject areas.

This course is targeted at individuals that want to move onto HND Networking, however build knowledge and competence in Software Development, Technical Support and Networking. It can also leads to progression opportunities at other HND subjects.

Units include:

Professionalism and Ethics in Computing; Computer Systems Fundamentals; Developing Software: Introduction; Graded Unit 1 (Examination); Team Working in Computing; Troubleshooting Computing Problems; Network Technology.

Entry Requirements

1 relevant Higher; or Foundation Apprenticeship IT: Software Development or IT: Hardware and Systems Support; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
