If you want to start your career with a year's work experience in hand, then you should consider this course. It combines the rigorous studies of the BSc (Hons) Information Systems with a year of work placement in level 4. Good performance means 12 months experience of working in an organisation in the computing sector. The Diploma in Industrial Training is gained through successful completion of the work placement. The work placement helps you to develop specific work-related skills, giving you the opportunity to apply and build upon the theory you’ve learned. There is also strong focus on system design and evaluation techniques, especially for interactive systems, complemented by the management skills needed to plan and organise the large scale information resources that drive modern organisations.
Level 1 combines databases, an introduction to computer systems, programming, investigations of emerging technology and technology in society, and management.
You will cover topics in understanding of organisations, socio-technical systems, databases and human factors.
You will cover courses such as interaction design, information systems methodologies and management of organisations, which lead to a group project.
