Content

The National 5 Maths course is made up of three units and a final exam. To gain the award for the whole course, candidates must pass a unit assessment for each of the three units and the SQA exam. Candidates must pass the unit assessments in order to sit the final exam.

The course covers three units:

Expressions and formulae - surds and indices, algebraic expressions, algebraic fractions and volumes of solids.

Relationships - solving linear and quadratic equations, quadratic graphs, similar shapes and trigonometric graphs and equations.

Applications – trigonometric formulae, vectors, fractions, percentages and statistical skills.
