Year 1
8 mandatory modules
Providing introductory theory on subjects relevant to real-world issues across the globe such as human and urban geography, the built environment, living planet and environmental change and Scottish geographies.
Year 2
6 mandatory modules | 2 optional modules
In year 2, course content focuses on planning and property with modules such as the planning system, city life and difference, urban political economy and environment and behaviour.
Year 3
6 mandatory modules | 2 optional modules
Year 3 focuses on planning and property studies in even more detail with modules such as real estate development, comparative urban planning, planning theories and place and place-making.
Year 4
Dissertation | 3 mandatory modules | 3 optional modules
Students complete an individual research dissertation, plus mandatory courses in spatial planning, urban design and urban economy and property markets. Optional courses include urban design for health and wellbeing, low carbon design, transport planning, social sustainability and environmental planning.
2023 entry requirements
Standard entry: 4 Highers at AABB plus English and Maths at National 5.
Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC plus English and Maths at National 5.
For entry to Level 2 you would require 2 Advanced Highers at BB plus 4 Highers at AABB.
