Content

This SWAP Access to Medical Sciences course is a very challenging course that is designed for those who have been away from education, typically for two or more years, who want to progress to a range of Higher Education courses relating to medical studies.

The programme is a combination of primarily science-related SQA units at Higher level and, in the case of Chemistry and Biology, up to HNC, along with the core skills required for university study.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements, although due to the high level of chemistry and biology on the SWAP access programme students will be expected to have some appropriate qualifications in these subjects. You should have been away from formal education for at least 2 years. Entry subject to interview.

Progression Routes

SWAP West programmes are designed to provide entrance qualifications for adults for degree courses. Each year universities update their progression courses. The following are examples of possible progression routes: medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, pharmacy, biomedical science, biological and biomedical sciences.
