This course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in health care, and will provide students with a firm understanding of the expectations and values expected of them in a care role, including nursing. The course introduces a variety of care professions across statutory, voluntary and private settings, and will enable you to better understand the complexities of delivering effective care to a variety of service users. The course will effectively prepare students with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to successfully progress towards further study or employment.
This course covers a range of different subjects to develop your understanding in fundamental areas of child, health and social care. You will be introduced to mental health issues and learn about the human body, sociology and psychology, and build essential skills in communication. The course covers Core Skills in IT, Numeracy and Literacy.
The course covers NC Child, Health and Social Care at Level 5, as well as incorporating a National 5 Care qualification.
2 subjects at National 5 including English plus 4 subjects at National 4; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.
Other qualifications and experience may be considered but the ability to work at SCQF Level 5 is essential. A genuine aptitude for working with people and good communication skills are essential.
