The course will develop the knowledge, skills and understanding you require to work in childcare. It will improve and enhance employability skills and develop practical skills for working with children.

The course contains a mix of theoretical and practical units which will support developing knowledge and skills.

Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People; Supporting Play for Children and Young People; Children and Young People: Rights and Protection; Supporting children and young people with additional support needs; Supporting a Curriculum in an Early Education and Childcare setting; Values and Principles of Childcare; Developing Skills for College and Work.

Entry Requirements

3 subjects at National 4 including English. Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant life and/or work experience. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
