The NC in Acting and Theatre performance aims to provide students with appropriate skills and knowledge in drama and theatre performance. There is a blend of practical and technical work underpinned with theory and research work. Students will study Acting, Voice, Movement, Technical Theatre in Context, Dance and preparation for Audition.

The course will introduce five required areas: Acting skills; Voice skills; Movement skills; Theatre skills in performance; Theatre workshop skills

Students can also choose to study from a range of additional units which may include: Acting through song; Choreography; Alternative dance; Jazz; Theatre performance; Acting styles and Practitioners; Technical Theatre in Context.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements, However, students will benefit from previous experience of a drama course or units (Higher, National 4 or 5 or equivalent) and will be expected to have a strong interest in and some previous experience of drama, acting and performing.

Progression Routes

Further study at HNC Acting and Performance or BA (Hons) Drama offered at UHI partner Colleges or other FE and HE establishments in Scotland.
