The Masters of Design (MDes) in Sound for the Moving Image offers the opportunity for postgraduate students to engage with the craft and creative practice of sound production applied to film, animation, television, new media, electronic games and visual art, as well as equipping students with the tools required to develop a research project within this field. The programme promotes production of original work, through individual or group-based research, that is conceptually-driven, aesthetically challenging and wide-ranging in its use of sound design and music production/composition.
The course has exit points at PgCert and PgDip.
Stage One:
Three core modules in this term: Sound for the Moving Image 1; Sound Theory & Film Studies; Core Research Skills for Postgraduates
You can exit after Stage 1 with PgCert Sound for the Moving Image
Stage Two:
One core module and choose 2 elective modules in this term: Sound for the Moving Image 2 (core); 2 cross-school of SimVis electives
You can exit after Stage 2 with PgDip Sound for the Moving Image
Stage Three:
Dissertation - Masters Project
