This introductory course is ideal if you wish to pursue a career in child care, but do not yet have the skills or experience to undertake the NQ Early Education and Childcare course. You will undertake classroom based assessments as well as projects that may include educational visits relevant to your programme.
Units covered on this course include:
Child Development; Play in Early Education and Child Care; Working in Early Education and Child Care; Parenting; Personal Learning; Communications; Numeracy and ICT.
Motivation, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in working with children. An interview is part of the selection process. You must also provide one suitable reference.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
You must be 16 by 31st October due to health and safety legislation.
