This NC in Sport and Fitness at SCQF Level 5 has been designed to provide students with a broad foundation of knowledge and skills for the sport and fitness sector. Practical skills, core skills and relevant experience developed during this course could allow students to continue in education or move into other employment options in the Sport and Fitness Industry. It builds knowledge and skills in sport and fitness e.g. personal fitness, how to deal with accidents and emergencies and how to plan activity sessions.

Not only would this provide a smooth and gradual transition from SCQF Level 5 studies, but would also act as an appropriate transitional study platform onto Higher National (SCQF Level 7) study progression in sports coaching or health and fitness or into the world of work to undertake an SVQ in Sports Coaching; Activity Leadership or Instructing Exercise and Fitness at SCQF Level 5, perhaps leading to a Modern Apprenticeship (MA).
