Content

This unit focuses on English reading and writing of various kinds. You will develop the skills and concepts required for:

Informational, expressive and creative writing, including summary and report writing, writing which reflects, persuades or argues and writing in literary genres

Reading informational and literary texts of recognised quality and for gaining access to information technologies

Individual talk, discussion and listening.

This unit is a component of the English National 5 (SCQF Level 5) course.



Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, although you would benefit from having studied English at the level of National 4. This course is also ideal for progression from Creative Writing 1 (E9X5 10).

Progression Routes

If you require an entry qualification for a full-time course, you may wish to complete the remaining units of the English course at National 5 level. If you wish to do another part-time course, you could progress to Literature 1, which is a Higher level unit.
