Content

This course provides the essential knowledge and skills needed to go into employment in the tourism industry or further study. It is also suitable for those already working in the industry who wish to extend and formalise their knowledge and equip themselves for progression on the career ladder.

The programme is delivered during the winter months, to allow those working in the industry to take advantage of the opportunity to gain training in their chosen field.

The course provides a sound broad-based foundation in travel and tourism by examining the development and growth of various sectors of the industry as well as the impact that the industry has on people and places. Facilities and services provided by the local tourism industry are investigated with a strong emphasis on the key functions of promotion, customer service and technology.
