Year 1: you will explore key ideas underpinning microeconomics (the study of individuals and markets), and macroeconomics (economy-wide issues such as unemployment and growth).
Year 2: in Microeconomics you will study some analytical frameworks to understand market structures, the consequences of market power, and the role of government in the economy; Macroeconomics focuses on the operation of the national economy, and the role of policy in delivering
sustainable economic growth and tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges from climate change to inequality.
Year 3: in Microeconomics you will learn to apply the tools of game theory and strategy to real world issues; our Macroeconomics class explores growth models and the operation of monetary and fiscal policy; you will also learn how to analyse data to further understand these issues.
Year 4: you will study advanced microeconomics and/or macroeconomics, and have a choice of electives in topics such as behavioural economics, energy and the environment, labour economics and advanced quantitative methods; you also write a dissertation on a topic of your choice.

Standard entry:
4 or 5 Highers at AAAA or AAABB (first sitting) or 6 Highers at AAAABB (two sittings) including English plus Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5 at B.
Widening access entry:
4 Highers at ABBB (first sitting) or 5 Highers at AABBB (two sittings) including English plus Maths or Applications of Maths at National 5 at B.
A Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted in place of a non-essential Higher.
