This course will give you a good foundation for becoming a skilled tradesperson. As you might expect, you’ll do loads of practical work, including painting, wallpapering, plastering and tiling. You’ll also do a bit of theory and will find out what you need to know to work successfully in the construction industry.
Preparing and painting different surfaces; decorative treatments; brush effects and paint designs using free brushwork techniques; paperhanging; preparing surfaces properly; mixing and applying paste; producing plumb lines, and cutting and hanging plain wallpapers; join textured and patterned papers on walls and ceilings; colour theories; plastering; and wall and floor tiling.
3 subjects at National 4, or National 4 SfW Construction Crafts, or Painting and Decorating (City and Guilds) Certificate, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Entry subject to interview.
Painting and Decorating (City and Guilds) Diploma or an apprenticeship.
