This practical course gives you a great introduction to the skill of carpentry and joinery focusing on learning different types of woodworking joints - joining pieces of timber together. You’ll also learn about various aspects of working successfully in a trade.

You will develop your skills for employment, such as working as part of a team.

Content includes:

Measuring, cutting and fixing; basic joints, frames and techniques; construct and fix hatch linings; a real craft project; the different trades within construction industry; health and safety practices.

No formal entry requirements. Entry subject to interview.

Progression Routes

Progression on to a wide range of relevant courses at SCQF Level 5 or an apprenticeship.
