There’s a large practical element, but also some theory to help develop your knowledge of engineering materials and important aspects such as quality, managing projects, and health and safety.
You will: develop skills in the basic welding processes; learn about fabrication processes; learn about thermal cutting processes; look at different methods for producing patterns for fabricated components and assemblies; learn how to interpret drawings, instructions and specifications; develop skills in graphical engineering communication; learn to use basic maths and apply IT in an engineering context.
4 subjects at National 5, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Entry by interview.
