The BSc Hons Applied Bioscience equips you with the skills to pursue a career within biological sciences including molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology.
With excellent laboratory and work-related learning opportunities, career options include clinical, food and beverage, environmental or industrial sectors in addition to research and teaching.
Work-related learning is available including an optional 12-week placement or one-year sandwich placement. Students have undertaken placements with organisations such as the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow, Devro and Controlled Therapeutics (Scotland) Ltd.
2021 entry requirements:
4 Highers at BBBC including Biology or Human Biology plus English and Maths at National 5.
Entry to year 2 may be possible with 3 Advanced Highers at BBC including Biology
As the sector matures, the nature of the companies is also changing from research and development to bio-manufacturing. Consequently, the career options have also expanded to include research, analysis, production, and quality assurance and regulatory affairs.
