This is an ideal full time qualification for school leavers interested in a career in an Armed Forces service. It is also appropriate for adult returners.

The course award, Level 1 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services, is nationally recognised and offered through NCFE, the awarding body. This very practical course provides the skills and knowledge required by applicants aspiring to a career in the Armed Forces or other uniformed service. Level 1 aims to provide well informed and well prepared potential recruits for a variety of Armed Forces services.

The course comprises 7 units of competence, including 5 mandatory units: Investigate Employment Opportunities in the Uniformed Services, Wellbeing and Physical Fitness, Teamworking Skills, Develop Self Discipline and Health and Safety in the Uniformed Services. The two optional units are: Participate in Adventurous Activities and Carry Out Essential Map Reading and Navigation.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements. Entry subject to interview. You will need to meet college and Army Careers standards during your initial interview and throughout the course

Progression Routes

It is expected that most successful candidates will find a career within the Army or other uniformed service. However, recruitment is based on the criteria of each of the services, over which the college has no influence or control.
