The theoretical model and philosophical ethos of the programme are based on the person-centred approach developed by Carl Rogers. The post-graduate diploma is designed to run over 2 years, successful completion of which allows progression to the MSc. The Master's stage of the programme consists of the participation on the 'Work Based Project and Dissertation Course.'

You can exit after 6 months with PgCert Person-Centred Counselling

You can exit after 12 months with PgDip Person-Centred Counselling.

Entry Requirements

Applicants for admission will normally be expected to hold a relevant Honours degree with a 2:2 or above from a recognised university or body. In exceptional circumstances, applicants without this qualification may be admitted at the discretion of the Programme Director subject to having an alternative qualification, or an approved level of experience, appropriate to the field of study.

A student membership of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA) is advised. You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of work.
