Privacy Policy

Continuing Education Gateway is a public sector, not for profit consortium of ten local authorities, hosted by Glasgow City Council. This privacy policy covers the PlanIT Plus website at www.planitplus.net and not any other website linked to this domain.

Continuing Education Gateway is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure environment for any information you submit. There are some aspects of our website e.g. registration for specific services, which require us to collect some personal details so that we can follow up your request or enquiry, but such information will only be stored for as long as you use the service you have requested. You do not need to supply personal data simply to browse the site.

We apply strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of your personal information. When personal information is requested on-line by us, we ensure that your browser encrypts it. The strongest available encryption under the industry standard technology called SSL ("Secure Sockets Layer") is applied. The same technology is used for personal information sent back to your browser from the PlanIT Plus website.

Please read on to find out more about our privacy policy. We will only release or exchange personal information if required to by law.

What information may we collect?
Name, address, telephone number, email address and IP Address.

Why do we ask for it?
The main reasons are:
  • so that we can keep you informed of developments, services and facilities that might be of interest to you and respond to any enquiries or requests that you may have. It also means that you can register with us for news updates and online newsletters and interact with us in our discussion forum.
  • so that you can use on-line facilities such as DipIN to update the information you provide for our database
How might we use the information you provide?
We may contact you to conduct market research, to invite you to take part in competitions or for direct marketing purposes. An ‘opt-out’ box will appear on these occasions so that you can let us know if you do not wish us to use your data in this way. In the event of sharing your information with third parties e.g. delivery of packages in fulfillment of an order, we will always obtain your prior consent.

Do we use cookies?
Yes, this is one of the technologies we use to customize our website services to your specific needs and make it more convenient to you. Cookies identify your computer to our server and personalize the site for your future use; they only supply us with information you have provided yourself and can be turned off on your web browser if you wish.

Do we store your IP Address?
Your IP address will be automatically collected and logged when your computer connects to our web server and may be used to help us determine the total number of visits to each part of the site. In the event of a security breach we can obtain the relevant IP Address from the Internet Service Provider and that is the only time a user may be contacted.

Why do we monitor database usage?
We use software to track user sessions to find out e.g. which areas of the website are most popular and dates, times and source addresses of page requests. The statistical reports we obtain will not identify you as an individual but will provide useful information to help us develop and improve our services and tailor them to your needs.

What about information you send to us?
Any material that you post on our website (excluding your personal information) will be considered non-confidential unless we are advised otherwise and we accept no liability for it. Furthermore any information you supply should not be such that it could violate any law.

Any significant change to this privacy policy will be prominently displayed on our web site. If you have any comments, queries or suggestions regarding the policy, please contact us at privacy@ceg.org.uk.
