Life Skills - Get Ready for Work
What is Life Skills?
-
Life Skills is a programme that aims to help young people aged 16-18 to be better prepared to move on to: Get Ready for Work, a job, training or college.
-
It’s designed to be especially flexible, and meet the needs of each trainee.
-
It helps you to focus on the things that are making it difficult for you to move into the world of work.
-
This might be almost anything – maybe you just lack confidence, or find it difficult to meet new people; or
-
you have to deal with a situation in your personal life that is holding you back – being homeless, an addiction or health problems.
-
Life Skills aims to give you the support you need to develop the life skills and confidence to move into the world of work.
What’s involved?
Programmes can last from a few weeks up to 26 weeks – or more subject to your progress - it all depends on your needs and what you want to get out of your training.
You can start off attending part time.
Your programme might include:
-

Your adviser will help you to decide if Life Skills is right for you.
If it is, they’ll help you to think about :
-
the sort of support you might need
-
what you want to do in the future
-
the skills you need to develop.
They’ll draw up an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) setting out what you hope to achieve; and help you to find the most suitable training provider and programme.
