Sponsorships and scholarships

Many big companies and other organisations, including universities, have schemes for helping students. These usually include work experience and training as well as money.

Sponsorship schemes vary so it’s important to read the relevant literature carefully. You normally need to apply early in the year before you start your course, and at least by the time you are filling in your online UCAS form.

This can be a great way to bring in some extra money and get valuable work experience. And the good news is that the SAAS ignores income from scholarships or sponsorships. So, if you get one, in student terms you’ll be rich!

Universities and colleges may themselves offer or manage scholarships for specific courses so it is worth checking for these on their websites and prospectuses.

They may be available in your school, college or local public library.
