This course explores the art of Italy in the 16th and early 17th centuries, from the late Renaissance into Mannerism and ending with the early Baroque. To exemplify these developments it reviews the works of the main artists, such as the late Michelangelo, Caravaggio and Bernini, and the changes that occurred in certain artistic categories, such as portraiture and landscape painting.
